She is remembered as a poet, hymn writer and children's author and, along with her older sister Ann, was responsible for writing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star (1806). Prior to this they published the collection Original Poems for Infant Minds in 1804. Hymns for Infant Minds followed in 1808.
